Freemasonry is one of the oldest secular social and charitable organisations in the world, modern Freemasonry’s roots lie in the traditions of the medieval stonemasons who built castles and cathedrals.
English Freemasonry is governed by the United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE) which is the governing body for a membership organisation of 175,000 people meeting in more than 7,000 Lodges across the globe. The UGLE headquarters are at Freemasons’ Hall, a stunning Grade II listed Art Deco building that proudly stands on Great Queen Street in Covent Garden, London.
