The Lodge of Discoveries recently purchased a round, collapsible table and donated it to Unidade Psicogerontologia da unidade local de saúde, which is part of the Santa Casa de Misericordia organisation. The table is for the use of the psychiatric day centre, which deals with the rehabilitation of patients who have had breakdowns and also those with the onset of dementia and Alzheimer’s. They needed a round table so that they can sit around in a group doing various craft exercises, which is to stimulate the brain, and consists of small puzzles, crochet, cards, they also have a board with light fittings and plugs to teach them how to use these everyday things correctly.
Flavia Polido, unit coordinator, said, “This allows a significant improvement in group activities and adds great value to the well-being of our users.
Phil Egginton, Worshipful Master of the Lodge of Discoveries, said, “It is always a great pleasure to help our local organisations”.
