New Grand Master for the Grand Lodge of Portugal

The Grand Lodge of Portugal (GLLP/GLRP) elects a new Grand Master every six years. Saturday 21st September saw the Investiture of the ninth Grand Master, Paulo Fonseca Rola, the current Deputy Grand Master, in the Myriad by Sana in Lisbon. Amongst the 800+ brethren attending, visiting masonic dignitaries from around the World included senior brethren from Brazil, Argentina, Moldova, Germany, Spain, Estonia, India, South Africa, France and USA.

The United Grand Lodge of England was represented at this important ceremony by the Pro Grand Master, Jonathan Spence. He was accompanied by Mark Stollery, Senior Grand Deacon, and the Grand Inspector for the Group of Lodges in Portugal, Pierre Caeiro.

The new Portuguese Grand Master is an Honorary Member of Lodge of Discoveries No. 9409 in Lagos, and a number of brethren from that Lodge were invited to travel to Lisbon to witness the occasion. Also in attendance was the GLLP Deputy Grand Tyler, W.Bro Jose Carlos Correia, who is also the current master of Britannia Masters Lodge and a past master of Lancaster Lodge.
